Foundations of Materials Management
Build overall understanding of commercial concepts, activities and practices within the organisation and how they connect to strategic objectives, policies and procedures. Participants then work through the key elements of materials management itself.
- Overall understanding of commercial basic concepts, activities and practices within the organisation and their relevant strategic plan objectives, policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Module 2: Introduction to Materials Management.
- Understand the key elements of the organisation's commercial strategic plans and their applicability to materials management objectives.
- Define the organisation's material management policies and procedures and identify relevant approvals for various materials management activities.
- Define the organisation's stockholding and stocktaking policies and procedures.
- Outline the organisation's stock receipt, inspection and dispatch procedures, as well as, applicable HSSE policies and procedures.
- Identify the relevant forms, templates, documents and sources of data necessary to develop/ amend materials management policies, procedures and/ or strategic plans.
- Identify the various materials management tools and techniques used within the organisation outlining their uses, benefits and implications.
- Understand the organisation's logistics management basic concepts, procedures and approaches.
- Learn how to maintain logistics records.
- Describe all documents, forms and data requirements related to materials management activities (e.g., materials analytics reports, materials master data, logistics logs, items specifications and descriptions etc.,), their sources and data collation methods.
- Learn how to extract reports.
- Use the relevant tools and techniques to maintain materials master data, material validity data and stockholding/ stocktaking activity records.
